If the answer is “Yes”, then you will know that these gorgeous bearded beauties appear to hold a gallon of water in their beards. I swear, they are absolute water hounds!! … and a huge complaint of many Giant Schnauzer owners are the Wet floors, the Wet furniture and not forgetting the Wet laps we endure … But we love them unconditionally, even when they are trailing water from their Dog bowls all over the house … and then all over us too!
We found the Perfect Water Bowl for Giant Schnauzers…
I may have a towel hanging next to every water station, but I also have the Perfect Water Bowl for Giant Schnauzers, and it’s a magnificient piece of work!
So what is the Perfect Water Bowl for Giant Schnauzers?
The Perfect Water Bowl for Giant Schnauzers is the…
This Dog Water Bowl simply put, is a genius creation. It has reduced the amount of water spillage & Dog drool across the floors, by leaps and bounds.
Some days, we don’t even notice any water on the floors anymore!
Here we have a selection of the featured Key benefits of the Slopper Stopper Dripless Water Bowl:
(A huge benefit, especially to owners of bigger breed Dogs. Eating too quickly and drinking water too fast, can cause your Dog to swallow/gulp air… which can lead to bloat and is definitely not good for any dog)
*We found that Size medium or Large are a better fit for Giant Schnauzers. Their muzzles seem better placed with these sizes, and they certainly don’t have too much space, therefore the Slopper Stopper is able to do its job more effectively.
All of the different size variations of the Slopper Stopper Dripless Water Bowl have the same 1 Gallon size stainless steel container.
This measures 9.84” W x 4.19” H. This is ideal as Dogs require access to plenty of fresh, clean water throughout the day.
Do our Giant Schnauzers like the Slopper Stopper Dripless Water Bowl?
At first our Giants were a bit hesitant to use the Slopper Stopper water bowl… and they appeared a little unsure. However, curiosity got the better of them, and they couldn’t help but keep going over and try sticking their noses into the water bowl. Giant Schnauzers are intelligent, and they had it figured out pretty quickly!
How does the Slopper Stopper Work?
The Slopper Stopper Dripless water bowl has 2 main sections. The industrial strength stainless water bowl and the very well-designed and durable food grade lid, with the center hollow (this also included a separate plug/Stopper, which fits snuggly within the small hollow area).
So, we poured water into the water bowl, and place the lid on top with our plug in place. Now comes the clever part… As the lid of the Slopper Stopper has a hollow middle, the plug is slowly released to create a suction and keeps the water in the lowest level of the lid (this is far lower than the gallon of water contained in this handy gadget). The water from the bowl is only accessible toward the bottom of the lid and it will keep refilling on its own until the gallon of fluid is empty. This creates a vacuum type suction, so, it won’t over flow on to the top of the lid or run down the sides, it keeps the water level where it should be.
When it comes to Dogs wanting a drink, they figure out that the water only comes out from the small middle section… Your Dog may rest his/her muzzle on the dish lid at first while figuring it out, however you will notice the difference as soon as they start to drink from this amazing water bowl. If you want to limit the amount of water your Dog has access to, or you are travelling with the Slopper Stopper, you can always use the included plug/stopper which fits snug into the hollow.
Why do some Dog’s still dribble water all over?
The manufacturers suggest allowing a break in period with the Slopper Stopper Dripless Water Bowl, of up to 2 weeks. Most Giant Schnauzers get the hang of using it from the Get-Go (ours did). However, it may take a bit of time to adjust.
It is normal for your Dog to make a bit more of a mess than usual when first starting to use the bowl, and this tends to be due to them trying to get their entire nose into the center of the lid, and drink like they have in the past, prior to the Slopper Stopper.
I found a huge difference in the reduced amount of water our Dog’s dribbled everywhere, an incredible difference, and I cannot recommend this Dog Water Bowl enough. It’s an absolute game changer, and by not having to clean up the constant water spillage is an unmeasurable bonus!
The Slopper Stopper Dripless Water Bowl is also Dishwasher safe. However, depending upon the temperature of your Dishwasher, it may be beneficial to hand wash, as Dishwashers do have different hot water temperatures.
If you have a Dog with neck issues, or is maybe a ‘senior’ Dog, they may benefit from a raised water bowl. The following stand is available to purchase separately, and it is a bargain…
